Batumi, a seaside resort and port on the Black Sea, is the capital of the Georgian Autonomous Republic of Adjara. The Batumi Boulevard features a seaside promenade with a park and beach. The 130-meter-high Alphabet Tower, displaying Georgian script, has an observation deck overlooking the sea. The old town is lined with renovated 19th-century buildings. North of the city, the Batumi Botanical Garden showcases plants from around the world.
